Now along with his Guitarron, Juan Ortiz has finally made his Viheula available. Years of prototypes have finally produced his first Juan Ortiz Model. The celebrated Mariachi maestro, Juan Ortiz, is the founding member of the legendary Mariachi group, Campanas de America, and he has given his lifelong dedication to the art of developing this splendid handmade Opus.
Now available at Tempest Musical Instruments - 843 Lockhill Selma, San Antonio, TX 78213 - our phone is 210-224-0258. Come in and try out these treasures!
The Ortiz Model is handmade entirely in the Tempest Musical Factory in Guadalajara, Mexico. These hand crafted, quality instruments are made from the finest woods of Mexico and each Vihuela has its own unique styling and beautiful inlay craftsmanship. Most importantly, they produce the best possible tone imaginable. The wood is thick and non-pliable, so the risk of cracking is almost nonexistent. Now you can have the sound you have desired and it will last for your children to enjoy.
This particular Vihuela is made of Mexican naturally aged cedar with a tacote top. This is a Number 2 size Vihuela. It has Mother of Pearl around the Sound Hole, and inlaid Purfling is around the edges of the top of the Vihuela. A truer work of art cannot be found. It gives a glorious resonating tone that is unmistakable "Guadalajara." A new legend has been added to a tradition of historically made Mexican folkloric instruments.
